Another way to understand the soul of a woman — through dance.
As part of the International Ballet Festival, on April 4 and 5 the National Ballet of Uzbekistan will present the performance “Lazgi. Dance of Soul and Love” on the stage of the Alisher Navoi State Academic Bolshoi Theatre of Uzbekistan.
The production draws on the ancient Khorezm dance lazgi — a language of emotions in which movement, glance and gesture reveal a woman’s inner world. In the performance, tradition merges with contemporary ballet, turning an ancient dance into a story about love, life and the soul.
A dance recognized worldwide
The ballet is based on the ancient Khorezm dance “Lazgi”, which is included in UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
A new stage interpretation
The traditional dance is presented as contemporary ballet.
A strong creative team
Choreographer — Raimondo Rebeck (Germany), scenography — Yoko Seyama, costumes — Frol Burimsky.
Idea author — Saida Mirziyoyeva.
Project director — Gayane Umerova.
A large-scale production

A story about a woman and her soul
A story of love for dance and life that began during the era of the Great Silk Road. The choreographer saw in Lazgi not just a dance, but a reflection of a woman’s soul, her love and inner world.
